This is the oldest picture I have of the two of us. We’d known each other for less than three months. I had no idea just how much the story of my life was changing for the better and what amazing adventures were ahead for us. Here’s to all that still await!
Rex
Happy Birthday Geoff !!!!
May your 50th celebration turn out the best ever in spite of this pandemic. Love you❤️❤️❤️🎈🎈🎈🍰🍰🍰

Happy 50th birthday to my first friend…
From the very beginning you’ve been a part of all my major milestones, supporting, loving and celebrating! And now a part of my children’s lives the same way! I love you and can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with you!!
Bridget
Geoff holy cow 50 seems like just yesterday. You have matured into one awesome human being. One that we are proud to call our nephew and a friend. Happy birthday.
Uncle Tom & Aunt Tish
Happiest 50th birthday cousin Geoff! I hope you get to enjoy some Covid friendly celebrations and that 2021 is a glorious year!!!
Love,
Maggie
Cousin Geoff, Happy 50th! I have always thought you were one the coolest people on earth and I still very much do. I remember it like it was yesterday watching you play MIST on the computer in the back room at the old Park Ridge house. About the same time I was following flopsy around on my hands and knees. Wishing you all the best and sending you all the love. Miss you and Rex! Looking forward to hugs soon! Happy Birthday!
Cousin Colin
Geoff, what can I say. Happy 50th! Lucky for us Meyer Men age gracefully I suppose. Thanks for being the the best officiant at our wedding, perhaps more importantly thanks for always being there when this branch of the family needed legal advice. My only regret is that I wasn’t old enough to rip cigs on your parents porch with you and Uncle Mark while he made bad jokes about your earrings. Enjoy your Birthday! Love you!
Ryan
Happy 50th birthday Geoff, how’s that even possible? I met you at a family party when you were 10. A summer party we were eating corn on the cob. I was minding my own business when you informed me that “Uncle Mark’s last girlfriend cut her corn off of the cob, she was skinny.” Hmm I thought smartass kid! When we got engaged you asked me if Uncle Mark really bought my ring. Classic example of a smart child who spends a lot of time listening to adult conversation.
Your spunk has always been a source of entertainment for me! Great sense of humor and a classic taste in Christmas cards, Barbie Dreamhouse is still my personal favorite. I wish you many more years of happiness as a smartass kid. Happy Happy 50th birthday, relax smell the flowers and all those other inspirational things you see on plaques in peoples houses.
I love you Geoff, be happy, there are way too many unhappy crabby people already.
Aunt Debbie, your favorite
Dear wonderful Geoff, you are, without a doubt, my go to for support, approval and encouragement. There is never a hint of judgment, and many times my cup runneth over with your enthusiastic support, for all of my wacky, materialistic and overboard ideas and purchases. Thank you for your friendship and positivity. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
Erin
Happiest of happy birthdays, Geoff! Although we don't get to see each other much, I always look forward to seeing you. You bring warmth and positive energy to every outing. With Pose ending (sniff sniff), we will have to find another show that we both love to talk about! Congrats on your 50th!
Sending you lots of love,
Vicky
Dearest Geoff - you do know, don't you, that every time you age up, I'm irredeemably compelled to the same fate in a matter of mere weeks?! I don't know what sort of chicanery you get up to to make that happen but we really need to put an end to this behavior. 50! The numbers are getting far too large, far too quickly! :-)
I've realized recently that I'm at an age where I've known most of my closest friends longer than I haven't and that I've passed more key moments and phases of my life with those friends than I ever did my own family. I am grateful that you are one of them. Thank you. With that, my dear Geoffrey, I wish you the best and the happiest of Happy Birthdays and many, many more to come...perhaps, however, we just slow the pace a little.
All my love and affection,
SAM
Gee, off the top of my head I can't imagine what turning 50 must be like...you must have so many memories! Does gingko or whatever help? What else do I need to know about aches? Or fiber?! I kid, but you know that, and I'm glad we can and do.
You're one of Sam's brothers and part of his chosen family, and I'm both grateful and honored to call you the same. You're exceptionally good people. Happiest of birthdays, Geoff! <3
*sends you a digital socially distant vaccinated hug that lasts for like 4 seconds*

Geoff, Happiest of birthdays! We’ve known each other a very long time now, but as a compliment to you, it isn’t as long as your relationships with the other wonderful people in our world. That just goes to show what a kind, caring, empathetic, loving, good friend you are. You have such great, long-term friends. I’m glad I have been a part of your world all these years.
I wish we could all celebrate and be together this year. I’d love to toast a glass of champagne to you (ok several glasses!), but I promise you we will all celebrate your fiftivities as soon as we are together.
I know you have the picture attached. But I’m posting it to you again. It is truly one of my favorite pictures of all time. This evening was from start to finish one of my favorite evenings: the company, the laughs, the experience, the joy! I’m so glad we were able to spend it together.
Happy 50th! I hope we can continue to celebrate the next 50 together. 💜💜💜💜💜
Love,
Tony
The first I knew of Geoff was as the guy who sold his couches to Erin for cheap. Like, super cheap. They were green and overstuffed and v comfy and I watched so much Dawson’s Creek sitting on them. Like, so much.
Then as the post-college life swirl transitioned to the calmer march of adulthood, I was lucky enough to get to know Geoff. I’ve come to appreciate his sharp intelligence and wry sense of humor; our shared northwest suburban roots and attendant shared awe at family recipes for cheesy marshmallow and corn nut salad and the like; his stories about bank robbers and other (alleged) perpetrators of federal crimes, which are WILD and make me think that if I ever got caught up in a federal crime (allegedly), I’d be okay, defense-wise.
There’s much, much more I could write but I’m coming up on a deadline here. Suffice it to say that I’m thrilled to call Geoff my friend and look forward to many more years of friendship to come. I hope your 50th birthday is the best one yet, filled with joy and fun and antibodies and love. Happy birthday, Geoff!
Dana
Geoff, Happy, Happy Birthday! When I think back fondly on my years in Chicago, one of the things I truly appreciate the most is that I lived there long enough for us to get to know each other better and become good friends. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather watch The West Wing with while eating pizza, and your visits to the Madrigal’s DJ booth always made my night. (We really should get around to writing that pilot script.) Sorry to miss your big day, but I’ll see you soon. xoxo
Sean

How is it possible you are 50 Geoff?!?! This can’t be happening. It seems just like yesterday we were living our best gay college lives spending practically every waking moment at C-Street. We have so many amazing memories together, I can’t possibly begin to list them. But when I met you my life changed so much for the better. And I’m so grateful and lucky to call you my friend. It’s amazing to look back on the journey we’ve taken and how much we’ve grown, and I’m so very impressed with the man you, Chicken Geoff (or Jewel Geoff as I may have called you once or twice), have become. I’ll cherish our memories forever, and I hope we continue to relive them always. We have some DAMN good stories, and I will never let you live down mustard acid-wash jeans because I love you, and that’s what good friends are for. Happy, Happy Birthday Geoff! All the best to you on your special day! XOXO
Mike
While there are countless memories we've been able to create over the years, there is one I'll always hold with pride: I was the first (I'm pretty sure) friend of Rex to officially meet you. Who knew a day out at the Cubs would lead to so many great times ahead. May the 5-0 and beyond be even more wonderful (though I'm sorry you won't be able to stare into condo anymore).
Nate
Happy 50th birthday Geoff! Thanks for being a great friend and neighbor. Looking forward to getting back to dinners and game nights soon!
Mark
It doesn’t escape me how lucky I am to know you. For all the small things, like picnics, parties and dinners. And for all the big things, like taking me out the day of my move, reminding me to be informed and inspiring me to fight the good fight in real ways. Love to you, my friend!
Elizabeth
Happy 50th birthday!
You’re 50 and fabulous!
You’re not old, you’re vintage!
In dog years, you’re 7!
You’re older than yesterday but younger than tomorrow!
I want you to know that I’m celebrating today not just because it’s your birthday (and a milestone one), but also because you’re the best brother-in-law I could’ve ever hoped to have. Here’s to the last 50 years and to many more birthdays to come!
Love,
Aimee
Dearest Geoffrey, baby face:
How is it possible that you are 10 x (4+1) years old? (That was the most complex math problem I could come up with). Here's a poem for you (imagine I am wearing a red Prada headband a la Amanda Gorman and reciting this to you):
Sweet baby-face Geoffrey Meyer
With that impossibly thick head of brown Blago-like hair
The only way we'd ever know if you actually dye it
Is if you did time like Blago
And then we could look you up
To see your booking photo
Sweet baby-face Geoffrey Meyer
Let's go out and sing songs and
Drink sugary drinks
And eat some food
From a restaurant
Like in the before-times
Because it is your birthday
And you are a number that sounds really old
But you have a baby-face
And a hot husband so
That's cool
Stephanie
Happy birthday!!! Congratulations on building the life of an amazing 50 year old, but still looking 30. I miss you. I'm excited that hanging out in person is right around the corner. Have a marvelous birthday celebration!!
Liz
Geoffrey, Happy 50th! Even with a beard, you’re still our baby face! Have a great day.
Bob Seeder
Happy 50th, Geoffrey. If I only knew you as a colleague I’d consider myself lucky— you are patient and wise— your analysis is always on the nose. But I have the good fortune to count you as a friend— and you are a great friend. I wish you the best as you cross into the next decade— I hope it’s your best one yet.

Dearest GM -- Happy, happy birthday! (I assume that number is a typo.) Despite the odd circumstances, I hope this year brings many happy surprises, exciting adventures, and luck from the contracting gods. I'm so grateful for your friendship -- you bring such wonderful, perfect wisdom and snark to L&G, I do not know how I would do this job without you. Thank you for your endless supply of wit, kindness, and patience. And all the Ru pics, of course. Can't wait to toast you when the CDC approves. Love,
Amanda Penabad
Geoffrey, welcome to old age. I’m sure you would claim that you are not old like me. Well, I’m not seeing a big difference! And while you are not yet entitled to senior discounts, you are able to yell at kids to get off your lawn. These are the true perks of age. Have a Happy Birthday and hold onto the bannister when you are walking downstairs!

A Boy Who Grew Into a Man
Geoff, I have so many memories of you etched in my heart! From the happy and easygoing baby through to adulthood. You were a loving and caring child and you are a loving and caring adult. I’m proud of all of your accomplishments. I’m proud of the man you have become. You should be proud too. I hope you know just how proud I am and how much I love you. Have a wonderful birthday ❣️
Love

So much of this year has been unexpected, unprecedented, un-whatever. Yet as we celebrate your birthday, the word that keeps coming to mind is the one above. You are my home, and day after day, you give me the sense of peace that you always said you would. I love you. Happy Birthday, and welcome to our next decade!
